The President’s New Orders

As most, if not all of America is aware, Donald Trump has been re-elected as President of the United States and was inaugurated on January 20. This in itself was bound to prompt massive changes to our country. However, while change was anticipated, the amount of change that’s transpired in four days is unprecedented. In just a short period of time, President Trump has signed a multitude of executive orders dealing with immigration, gender, and many others that have had the country divided.

Perhaps the most divisive of Trump’s series of executive orders have been those that have dealt with the issues regarding immigration in the United States. The president attempted to deal with this issue during his previous presidential term, and now he aims to finish what he started. Part of his plan to deal with this “issue” is his executive order that has had many talking: his order to change birthright citizenship, essentially getting rid of the 14th Amendment. Another one of his orders allows ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) to raid areas that are otherwise off-limits, including churches and schools.

Another series of polarizing orders has been his orders that deal with gender, which has been a very controversial and sensitive topic in America. However, now that Trump is in office, he’s taken steps to implement more conservative policies. The most infamous of these policies is the declaration that there are only two genders: male and female. On the topic of females, he has also restricted the reproductive rights of women as he has removed many public resources, including public government websites.

Trump has also implemented many other miscellaneous executive orders. Some of those include the changing of geographic areas, including the changing of the Gulf of México to the Gulf of America and the renaming of Mount Denali in Alaska to Mount McKinley. Another one of his orders pardoned all of the people involved in the January 6th Capitol raid in 2021.

Love him or hate him, Trump is here to stay for another four years, and only time will tell just how much America will change — whether for better or for worse.
