NFL’s AFC & NFC Championship Games

This past Sunday could have either been a celebratory or disappointing night, depending on if your NFL team clinched their ticket to Super Bowl 59. The Washington Commanders took on the Philadelphia Eagles to battle for the NFC championship while the Buffalo Bills faced the Kansas City Chiefs to determine who would be the AFC Champions.

To start football Sunday, the Commanders and Eagles faced off at noon, with the Eagles having home-field advantage. Jayden McDaniels, the Washington Commanders’ rookie quarterback (QB), had a chance of making NFL history, being the first rookie QB ever to take their team to the Super Bowl. Unfortunately for the Commanders, getting to the Super Bowl wouldn’t be easy, especially since they were going against the Eagles with the best defense in the league. When you're up against an elite team, like the Eagles, you have to make sure you're able to perfect your offense and create stops on defense. After a great deal of turnovers from the Commanders, the Eagles were able to secure their trip to the Super Bowl, winning 55-23.

The Kansas City Chiefs, with the home-field advantage, took on the Buffalo Bills at 3:30. The Chiefs are so close to making history for themselves, being the only team in NFL history to ever win 3 consecutive Super Bowls. To make this possible, they had to win their game against the Bills. Going into the game, both teams knew it wasn’t going to be easy, especially since when both these teams meet, the game is always decided during the last possession. In this game, just like every other game, the Bills had a chance to take the win with a touchdown and/or tie it with a field goal. The Chiefs defense created the biggest stop to ice the game, winning it 32-29.

The Super Bowl is set to take place on February 9th at 3:30 pm in New Orleans. The Chiefs and Eagles are faced off against each other in the 2023 Super Bowl, with the Chiefs winning. I’m sure the Eagles are looking to beat the Chiefs in this rematch so they can become the new reigning champs. This game will definitely be a thriller for each of these teams’ fan bases since this game has so much on the line for both the Chiefs and Eagles.
