Mayfair’s Thoughts on the 2024 Election

On November 5, 2024 was the day that Americans ventured to the polls and cast their ballots for who they wanted for president. It truly was a rollercoaster of an election as there was no clear cut proof of a winner prior to the vote count. However, a lot of people, including myself, were disappointed to see the election map slowly turn red and the bar slowly move to the left. It’s clear now that we’re in for another four years of Trump, and while I may not be the happiest about it, we went around Mayfair to see what the students had to say about the election results.

As California is primarily a democratic state, it was expected that a lot of our interviewees would be disheartened at the news of Trump’s re-election as the 47th president. Even aside from that, you would think that people would be concerned to have convicted felon with pending charges as a president, right? Well, it appears we were wrong. A lot of the students that were interviewed showed resounding support for Trump, even going so far as to repeat his slogan “Make America Great Again”. Despite these results, however, most of our interviewees were unable to give reasons for their support of Trump other than their disdain for a female president.

As of writing this, more interviews are scheduled to be filmed, so there could still be a myriad of different perspectives that may show themselves. Until then, however, it seems that Mayfair is a lot happier about “Making America Great Again” than originally expected. Regardless of whether students lean left or right or anywhere in between, only time will tell just how much better or worse the country will become as a result of this election. Trump has taken America back, and now we’ll see just what he does with it.
