Legends Festival 2024 is Finally Here, And…

(DISCLAMIER: This article contains slight spoilers for the “Dragon Ball Super” manga)

Being one of the two big annual celebrations, after the game’s anniversary, the Legends Festival in “Dragon Ball Legends” which lasts from late November to mid January, bleeding into the new year, is always a time that promises exciting new content, in particular, hype of new characters. The months before Legends Fest, the Legends community came together and brainstormed what the players will receive during this celebration as they pull from tags, or groups of characters. That players haven’t received a new character in some time. The official "Dragon Ball Legends" social media account hints new characters that they will release during the first of three parts during the celebration through posts.

During the prelude to Legends Fest, there were many predictions that floated around the community about the characters that we would be summoning for during the celebration. Out of all of these predictions, the most prominent one has seemed a Future tag character, mainly a Legends Limited Merged Zamasu, as the last summonable Future unit that was released was an Ultra Vegito Blue back in 2023. Furthermore, Merged Zamasu does not have a Legends Limited character at the time of writing this, save for his Corrupted Form that was released in 2021 and received a Zenkai Awakening a few months ago. Another prevalent prediction was Beast Gohan and/or Ultra Instinct Goku, since a trailer for Legends Fest depicted the Beast Gohan and Ultra Instinct fight that occurred in the manga and showed a reference to Ultra Instinct Goku at the end. Well, now the wait is over, as the Reveals and Stuff, which is where new information for the game is revealed, was recently streamed on Youtube on November 21, 2024.

To put it simply, it was everything that we, including myself, expected, and at the same time not at all. While we did expect a Future character, nobody expected a Legends Limited Vegito, especially since we received a Vegito during the 6th Anniversary back in May.  Additionally, almost nobody expected a Legends Limited Goku Black, at least not by himself but rather with Zamasu that would then fuse into Zamasu. At first, I was disappointed, as I had been hoping for a Merged Zamasu and my hopes went crashing down after seeing Vegito and Goku Black. However, looking back, they both look like cool characters, especially with their Legendary Finishes including Legends-original animations. Now that Legends Fest has officially kicked off, we can only wait and see just what characters we will receive.
