The news, reporting and interviewing are all forms of journalism. Ever wanna take your writing to the next level or wanna cover what happens in the news and on campus? In Mayfair’s journalism class we cover different forms and types of media; even the smallest topic gets covered by us. From local to international, any news can be covered. It’s a very easy going class, with interesting people and opportunities you can create good memories with. Although you do need to have a good work ethic in order to meet your deadlines on time, if you need help in managing time, we’re here to help in any way we can. Most people think that journalism is just informational text and sometimes get us confused with Yearbook. However, we have options on what you can do: opinionated, news, sports, arts and entertainment. Anything is possible! Another option you have if you join journalism is being able to interview people who you like. From friends to even celebrities, both big and small. If you can write it, we'll take it.
As someone in journalism, the experience and ride has been fun. I started out as a reporter and now I’m an editor for the class. It’s very intriguing to be able to edit for others and see what they like to write about. Though sometimes -- just like with anything -- things can get a little overwhelming if the process stops somewhere, but once things like that get fixed it’s smooth sailing again. Overall, I think joining does help you with little things that can make a big difference in the long run. For instance, time management it's one of those things where most people need help. It was a little tricky to get into the groove of always having something to do Friday by the end of class. I got the hang of it after a while and they helped me with other subjects too. Now meeting deadlines for me is on the easier side and increases my free time too. Now that I have the hang of this I don’t want to leave anymore! So, come join journalism and make it a decision you’ll never forget.
