After a year and a half of no school events, Mayfair’s Homecoming dance this year did not disappoint. Some might argue that the theme of “Las Vegas” is overdone and corny, but the theme was able to fit into the event quite well. There was even a dessert table with water, candy, and ice cream which was nearly empty by the end of the night.
The music, the fashion, the new trends-it all created the perfect atmosphere to have the time of your life. One of the more notable fashion trends among boys this year being the turtleneck and chain combo.
Very elegant and clean, yet casual and timeless. Among the girls, there was a very significant trend in the colors worn, primarily darker shades of green, red, and occasionally blue and black. Few wore bright or neon attire.
What else is there to say? Both guys and gals killed it this year when it came to fashion. I think it goes without saying that everyone looked absolutely fabulous. Shout out to the ladies who wore heels the whole time! I don’t know how y’all do it.
But as for other Hoco activities, there were a TON of crowd-surfers. Although it was unsafe and likely against the rules, I’m glad people were able to have fun without getting hurt. But hey! At least nobody was stealing school property and slapping their teachers *cough* *cough* Tik Tok challenges.
The main take-away from the dance is that everyone enjoyed themselves. Covid-19 took a major toll on students and being able to go to a party for the first time in a while was super refreshing! According to ASB Director Mrs. McAndrew, this is the largest crowd they’ve ever had at a dance, which goes to show how eager students were to finally go to a school event for the first time in over a year. Given the response to Homecoming I am excited to see what future school events this year will bring.
