Dear Margot,

“I stopped a situationship between me and my friend. We both liked each other but it wasn't going anywhere at all, so we agreed to stop and continue as friends. However, I can’t stop myself from liking him, and I don't know what to do”

Hey reader, this seems to be a very tricky situation. It is normal to struggle with an emotional shift, from going from having feelings for each other to going back to being friends.

It's important to take a step back and give each other space. Usually when people decide on being friends, those feelings don't immediately go away. Giving each other space and allowing you both to slowly get over it will help. It's okay to know you both need time, or to let him know you guys need a break away from each other.

It is important to set boundaries. Setting boundaries between you two will allow you guys to truly be friends, and additionally protect your emotional well-being. This might mean limiting certain interactions or creating distance between you both.

If it becomes too much remember, communication is key. It is okay to talk about both of your feelings with each other, and knowing where the both of you stand. It would be a shame to lose a good friendship due to lack of communication.

Hope this helps!

Margot
