Dear Margot,

"Lately, I’ve been dealing with bullying because I’m gay. People make rude comments and laugh behind my back. It’s hard because I just want to be myself, but it feels like I have to hide who I am to fit in. It hurts, but I’m trying to stay strong."

Dear Reader,

I’m really sorry you're going through this. No one should make you feel bad for being yourself. You are worthy just as you are, and no one’s comments can take that away. It’s okay to feel hurt, but remember that their words don’t define you. Being true to who you are is something to be proud of, even if it feels tough sometimes.

My advice is to stay strong and remind yourself that your identity is valid and important. Find people who support you, whether they’re friends, family, or someone you trust at school. And remember, it's okay to take time for yourself to process things. Don’t be afraid to reach out for help when you need it.

It’s okay to ask for help, and there are people who want to support you.

If you ever need someone to talk to, our school counselors are here for you. If you're unsure who your counselor is, you can find out here: Middle School Counselors High School Counselors

One more thing: Don’t let the negativity of others change who you are. Stay confident in your journey and remember that you deserve to be treated with respect and kindness. Focus on your self-worth, and know that there are always people ready to support you. Rooting you on,
