Decorated with miniature bees and vines around the corner, on September 2024, Lakewood opened a dainty, cozy boba business by the name of "Boba Bee”. Originated in July 2021, Boba Bee is a small organization that offers high quality drinks with many options, ranging from crème brûlée boba to matcha lattes, coffees, smoothies, and many more! Additionally, they would release periodic drinks fitting for seasons such as autumn and winter. Their menu accommodates all with options of choosing to include boba or not, dairy or non-dairy, and caffeinated and decaf. Moreover, they encourage bonus rewards for customers who enjoy their products. With these successful marketing tactics, many members of the Lakewood community are fond of Boba Bee as a small boba shop.
Given this outcome, there were many factors that contributed to the success of Lakewood’s Boba Bee. The owner of this cafe has made a journey as she discusses the early stages of Boba Bee’s establishment and accomplishments.
Q: “When did you establish this business and how did it start?”
“So it was established in July 2021, it was late for us. My husband and I were both working at the hospital as healthcare workers and I always wanted to walk home with my two children. I have been looking for a job for a while, but it did not happen. Fortunately, one of my friends who also owns a boba shop asked me if I was interested in doing a business and she would help me, so that I can quit my full time job, start the business, and become more flexible.”
Q: “What is the experience working with other people in Lakewood? How do you familiarize yourself with them?”
“I would say the people are very friendly and helpful because when we built the store in Lakewood, I had people and the city help obtain the area. With the customers, they are very nice. Lakewood is family-oriented, so we have a good experience with this place.”
Q: “What do you think is the state of Boba Bee? Do you think it could be expanded or is it as good as it is now?”
“I think it is good where it is right now because we have four stores. We do not have any plans to extend anytime soon.”
Q: “How do you promote this business?”
“We advertise with social media through Instagram, Facebook, and our rewards. We have a rewards program in which a customer signs up with the phone number or email address. Then we have promotions and send a message to let them know that there is something going on with the store.”
Q: “What is the best part of working here at Boba Bee in Lakewood?”
“The best part of working here is that we can see that we contribute to the community because there are a lot of people who know about Boba Bee and buy our boba. So having a shop here provides high quality drinks, we feel happy to see customers enjoy our drinks. We feel delighted when we offer them good products. We also offer fundraisers and community support!”

Many people, including myself, believe that this business is an adorable, cozy cafe with delicious, seasonal drinks, endless amounts of promotions, and friendly customer service.
