In order to prepare the students for their upcoming classes for the new semester, the school holds a “Back to School Night” to discuss with teachers on classroom policies and expectations. The event took place at Mayfair High School on September 4th, 2024 starting from 5:00-8:30 PM. There were a bunch of stands for different clubs and sports that sold various foods in order to help support their endeavors. Most of the stands included: Marching Band, Unified PE, Journalism, Boys Soccer, PTA and Football. They seemed to sell various types of food ranging from drinks, soft tacos, burgers, snacks, cotton candy, icecream and rootbeer floats. At the start of the event, many students and families started arriving, clubs and different electives were preparing their stands, and band and colorguard were performing in front of the STEAM building for all guests to enjoy. Afterwards, Principle Diaz gave his speech to mark the official beginning of the 2024-2025 school year; he praised and recognized the band/colorguard for getting a spot into the Rose Parade and gave several inspirational messages to the students at the start of a brand new year. The rest of Back to School Night was mostly teachers talking to their students and the parents about the classes, and then leading to passing periods and some time to enjoy the festivities. Most of the journalists that participated in the event were assisted with the shop in front of the 200 wing, in which they managed to get around $40 to help assist in their future creative endeavors. Overall, the event was wholesome, students and families seemed to enjoy the food as well the food. Furthermore, students taking care of figuring out their future classes.
