I got the privilege of interviewing Mr. Headley about his personal and work life on Tuesday, October 28, 2025. He is my teacher for AP United States History and I wanted to bring a spotlight onto him so we can learn more about him beyond his great teaching. I asked a series of questions to get to know more about Mr. Headley. Q: Why did you want to teach at Mayfair? A: “Great question, I started my teaching career in Monrovia High School, and I don’t live very close to Monrov

Russia and Ukraine History
Russia and Ukraine have had a series of long lasting conflicts. While they have had a variety of problems in the past, in more modern years it has intensified. I broke down the conflict into five different categories: historical background, events that led up to the conflict, geopolitical factors, current conflicts, and impacts & consequences locally and globally. To start off, Russia and Ukraine have a deep historical background with centuries of history together, most of i

Dear Margot: Am I Wasting Time?
Dear Margot, “I stay up late just to text him, but he never does the same for me. Am I the only one who cares this much, or am I just wasting my time losing sleep over him?” I don’t know much about him but what I am getting from this is that you aren’t feeling so reassured. If he is dry with you daily and hasn’t changed then maybe it’s time to talk to him and see why he has been so dry. I don’t want to immediately say that you two should stop texting, but you guys should

Sofi Stadium Kickoff Game
The Sofi Stadium Kickoff game was a great way to start the 2025-2026 school year. Mayfair High School got an invitation to play at the big beautiful stadium in Los Angeles. The game started at 7 p.m. on the dot and the crowds filled the stadium with amazing school spirit. Some ways to describe this football team are: they persevere, they are determined and they have amazing sportsmanship. In the game, the team struggled; however, they continued pushing their limits, even thou

Dear Margot: Asking a Friend to Hoco
“Dear Margot, I want to ask my friend out to homecoming but we’re both girls and I'm afraid she’ll be weirded out and reject me. What do I do?” I feel like as long as you keep it in a friendly manner then she shouldn’t be uncomfortable. We all have different feelings about these things and it is hard to go off of what little information I have about her. But if something like that will make her uncomfortable, then you could try hinting at her before asking her out. If she r

Dear Margot: How should I dress?
Dear Margot, “Everyone tells me I dress to masculine and I need to dress more girly, but that's not my style. What do I do?” For a situation like this, I would usually say you should ignore them and go wear whatever you want! But if people are constantly bugging you about this then it isn’t going to be easy to ignore. Everyone has their own thoughts and opinions and they should respect yours. All that matters is that you feel comfortable in your own skin, you don’t need

Her role as Kay Adams in “The Godfather” first got people’s attention, but it was the film, “Annie Hall”, that made her a true star. Winning an Academy Award for that role, she not only proved he

On September 26, 2025, Mayfair High School had a fall sports assembly to recognize and appreciate all of the sports teams our school has. The assembly starts off with all of the different teams running out while the audience cheers for them. Shortly after all the teams came out, Mrs. McAndrew unexpectedly called out a group of students for their bad behavior during the assembly and the whole crowd cheered her on for this action.
